Automation

For our purposes here, automation as it relates to artificial intelligence may be considered an integral component when explicitly determined and categorized for usage. There certainly are a number of automation types that use little or no AI at all. The key factor is to consider both as augmenting processes when utilized together.

Computer Vision

Content found in video and images may be extracted, analyzed, and utilized for a wide array of solutions. Machines are devised to interpret and decipher images at the pixel level and make preset determinations based on algorithms that are implemented. Tracking, identification, classification, detection, captioning, facial recognition, boundary segmentation, and a host of other usage factors may be employed.

Deep Learning

The key to this approach to artificial intelligence is that it’s highly scalable and continually improves based on the amount of data that is examined and absorbed. Large neural networks are used to produce various hierarchical layers that are not entirely dependent on human input. Rather, a substantial amount of progress is made by applying and maximizing preset procedures.

Edge Computing

The basic concept of this application involves the movement of processes to a location as close to the user as possible rather than taking a wholly cloud-based approach to integration and assimilation. Cloud computing has been an incredibly productive and innovative sphere that has changed the way many companies do business and the manner in which we all put various technologies to use. However, recent developments have made it possible to help ameliorate some of the issues inherent to remote function – latency being a primary problem.

Many types of devices are now being manufactured with onboard systems that have the ability to perform many of the tasks previously reliant on a remote interchange of information. Cars, medical devices, and many other IoT machines have seen improvements that have led to cost savings and improved capability on numerous levels.

Evolutionary Computation

Inheritance and natural selection are foundational impetesus for this component of AI. Highly complex problems with a large number of variables are prime candidates for this type of approach to problem solving.

Expert Systems

Very much as the title implies, this technique incorporates a large knowledge base accumulated through the assistance of experts in a particular field. Data is processed and various possibilities/explanations are offered by the computing system.

Fuzzy Logic

An approach that takes Yes/No and 0-1 answers to a question and incorporates a more human decision-making process that allows for various options along the plane within those sets. Incomplete or nonlinear data groups are often prime candidates for this operation.

Machine Learning

Algorithms are used to produce notions about given data sets. Stock trading, customer recommendations, chatbots, pricing charts, fraud detection and prevention, traffic routing, and many other applications benefit from this field of artificial intelligence.

Natural Language Processing

Spoken or written text is parsed and analyzed to increase efficiency in a number of realms including social media, search results, customer service, finance, supply chain, transportation, healthcare, and many more.

Neural Networks

This method takes its cue from the human brain. Software components are arranged similarly to neurons, and connectivity is established that allows each of them to directly communicate. Problem solving using this method is achieved by prompting the system to tackle a particular question a number of times in succession. Errant results are disregarded while those that maintain viability are kept within the ecosystem. Military applications, finance, telecommunications, and business analytics are but a few of the realms that have successfully implemented this approach.

Robotics

This field has seen many recent advances due to the incorporation of various forms of AI, depending on what a particular use case may be. We have worked with a number of private and public sector companies that specialize in this profession.
